SOCIAL SKILLS

Our Social Skills mini – groups are for 2 children on the same developmental level; they are a supplement to individual ABA therapy and integral to our mission to unlock each child’s potential. Social groups allow children to practice self-control, language and social communication skills, make friends, and experience the joy of playing with a peer.

Benefits of social skills mini – groups:
Practice for the real world – These groups are a stepping stone. They allow children to practice skills learned in individual therapy in a supported group environment. This gives them the confidence to take those skills into the real world.

Individualised Placement – Two children are carefully matched. Before placing them in a group we evaluate their readiness for the group, developmental level, speed at which they process information, and personality.

Play-Based Activities – Children learn language and social communication through play. All group activities are designed to be fun and motivating.

In addition to our ongoing social skills mini – groups, we offer TheraCamps during the spring, summer and winter school breaks, Intensive Programmes, Integrated Therapies and Early Intervention, on top of many other therapies and services in the six areas of ITCA’s integrated model of autism care.
